Midlifely is a place for women navigating midlife to swap real advice on everything from cortisol-friendly evening routines to denim jackets that actually earn their spot in a closet. Comments, replies, and shared tips are a huge part of what makes that useful — but only if the space stays respectful and trustworthy. These guidelines explain what we expect from anyone commenting or otherwise participating on the site, and how we handle it when something goes wrong.

Who These Guidelines Cover

This page applies to anyone who leaves a comment, replies to another reader, submits a form, contacts us through Contact, or otherwise interacts with Midlifely's public-facing features. It works alongside our Terms of Use, which governs use of the site more broadly, and our Editorial Policy, which explains how our content itself is researched and written.

Be Respectful, Even When You Disagree

Health, hormones, home organization, and personal style are all topics where people have strong, sometimes very different opinions — and that's fine. Disagreement is welcome. What isn't welcome is turning that disagreement into an attack on another commenter or on our writers.

  • Critique ideas, not people. "I don't think this insomnia tip worked for me because..." is useful. Personal insults are not.
  • No harassment, hate speech, bullying, or targeting anyone based on age, gender, race, religion, body size, health condition, or anything else.
  • No threatening, degrading, or sexually explicit language.
  • Keep it readable for a general audience — we're a family-friendly, midlife-focused community.

Comments that cross these lines will be removed, and repeat offenders may be blocked from commenting altogether.

No Spam or Deceptive Promotion

We're glad to have readers share genuinely helpful resources, but we don't allow comments used purely to promote products, services, or other websites.

  • No affiliate links, referral codes, or unsolicited business promotion in comments.
  • No copy-paste comments dropped across multiple posts.
  • No impersonating brands, practitioners, or other people.
  • No misleading claims — for example, posing as a doctor or nutritionist to push a product or protocol.

If you'd like to work with us directly rather than through comments — as a brand, blogger, or product owner — please see our Collaboration page instead of posting promotional comments.

Safety and Legality Come First

Because a lot of our content touches health and wellness — things like cortisol, sleep, and hormone changes after 40 — we ask commenters to be thoughtful about what advice they share.

  • Personal experience is welcome; medical instructions to other readers are not. Please avoid telling someone to stop medication, change a dosage, or diagnose a symptom in the comments.
  • Recipe and food-related comments should stay within common sense: note allergens, substitutions, or safety issues (like undercooking meat) rather than risky shortcuts.
  • No content that is illegal, encourages self-harm, or promotes dangerous products or practices.
  • No sharing of anyone's private information — yours or someone else's — including phone numbers, home addresses, or financial details.

For a fuller picture of why we frame health and lifestyle content the way we do, our Disclaimer explains that nothing on Midlifely replaces professional medical, financial, or legal advice.

How Moderation Works

We moderate comments to keep the space useful, not to silence honest opinions. In practice, that means:

  • Comments may be reviewed before or after they appear, depending on the plugin and volume at the time.
  • We may edit a comment lightly (for example, removing a link) rather than deleting it outright, when the core message is still valuable.
  • Comments that violate these guidelines — harassment, spam, unsafe advice, or illegal content — will be removed without notice.
  • Repeated violations can result in a reader being blocked from commenting on future posts.
  • We don't guarantee that every comment will be published or kept online indefinitely; older threads may occasionally be cleaned up or closed.

Moderation decisions are made by a small human team, not an automated filter alone, so if you believe a comment was removed unfairly, you're welcome to reach out and ask.

How to Report a Concern

If you see a comment that seems abusive, spammy, unsafe, or otherwise against these guidelines, please don't engage with it directly. Instead:

  • Email us at [email protected] with a link to the post and, if possible, a screenshot or the exact wording of the comment.
  • Use our Contact page if you'd rather fill out a short form.
  • Let us know if the concern involves your own personal information appearing in a comment, so we can prioritize removing it quickly.

We read every report and aim to respond within a few business days.

How This Fits With Our Other Policies

These guidelines work together with the rest of our site policies. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle data from comments and site visits, our Affiliate Disclaimer and Disclosure page cover how we handle sponsored or affiliate content in our own posts, and our Pinterest Disclaimer covers how our content appears when shared or pinned elsewhere. If you're ever unsure whether something belongs in a comment, it's always fine to ask us first.

Ultimately, these guidelines exist so that Midlifely stays what it's meant to be: a warm, honest, occasionally funny corner of the internet where midlife women can trade real advice without wading through noise or negativity. Thanks for helping keep it that way.
